Arrowhead® Brand 100% Mountain Spring Water Launches Its .5 Liter ReBorn™ Bottle Made With 50% Recycled Plastic

STAMFORD, Conn., Nov. 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The company that produces Arrowhead^® Brand 100% Mountain Spring Water introduces its .5L ReBorn™ bottle, made with 50% recycled PET (rPET) in the familiar Eco-Shape® bottle design. Arrowhead is one of the only major bottled water brands on the West Coast to utilize rPET – by producing this new ReBorn bottle, the brand will save resources and use 15% less energy than it takes to produce bottles from all-new materials. Given the widespread distribution and availability of the Arrowhead brand on the West Coast, this bottle will help to increase awareness and educate the public about the value of recycling.

PET (polyethylene terephthalate) plastic has been the standard beverage packaging for decades – rPET is recycled PET plastic and maintains the durability, safety and reusability of virgin PET and does not affect the taste or quality of the water. The iconic regional brand's new .5L bottle demonstrates how plastic bottles can be reused and given another life after they've been recycled.

Recycling Event with Keep California Beautiful

As part of its commitment to sustainability, Arrowhead is partnering with Keep California Beautiful (KCB), an organization committed to recycling education and efforts. This year, to celebrate America Recycles Day on November 15, the partners will work together to host a volunteer recycling and beautification event in San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf area. More than 250 local residents will volunteer their time and commitment to a variety of projects, including picking up trash and recyclables, painting and invasive plant removal. To further assist with local organizations' efforts to increase recycling and meet zero waste goals in San Francisco, Arrowhead has provided funding to KCB for a one-year sponsorship of four innovative solar-powered BigBelly waste and recycling stations. The stations will be unveiled in time for America Recycles Day and provide long-term, expanded recycling opportunities for visitors to Fisherman's Wharf and Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Additionally, the BigBelly bins at Fisherman's Wharf will offer consumers a one-stop solution for all three streams: recyclables, compostables and trash, which is a first for public spaces in the U.S.

An interactive edu-tainment program hosted on the brand's Facebook page demonstrates the brand's support of recycled materials and features educational information and creative artists who use recycled materials in their work.
