GLENDALE, Ariz., April 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The NCAA Division I Men's basketball tournament is one of the preeminent sporting events of the year. 2017 marks a number of inaugurals in the Final Four: first time being played in Arizona, first appearance of Gonzaga, and first appearance of Arteflame. Arteflame was at the center of pre-game festivities as part of the Official NCAA Fan Experience during the Final Four and will be front and center prior to tip-off Monday evening April 3 between Gonzaga and UNC.
Events began on Lawn B with the Fan Experience on Saturday, April 1. A panel of local chefs competed in a "Chopped" style competition with each of the four chefs working their culinary magic using an imaginative list of ingredients including items such as avocados, pineapples, frosted flakes, eggs, salsa & pork. Chefs included two graduates of the Art Institute of Phoenix's culinary program - Peter Cromey, an honors graduate currently working as personal chef and Tara C Russell presently working as part of Five Stars award winning celebrity chef program. Contestants were judged by a panel including UNC Hall of Famer and basketball legend Phil Ford. Monday afternoon's event promises to be just as lively and engaging with another group of basketball legends as judges and officials sure to engage both guests and chefs.
Arteflame is the original American flat top grill, but with a difference: Part grill, part fire bowl, ALL ART, its innovative circular shape and beautiful finish make a fitting statement in outdoor kitchens and patios alike. The grill is handcrafted in the U.S. of domestically produced steel, the cooktop composed of special ½"-thick high-carbon steel atop a proprietary spun fire bowl, which along with the base, is made of COR-TEN steel. Heat radiates from the center out onto the wide cooktop, which is slightly dished so grease travels inward. Food not only stays on top to cook in its own juices, the wide surface means various foods can be cooked together—evenly, and without potential burning. The Arteflame has a dual use as a fire bowl radiating warmth in all directions up to six feet off center.
