A second unrelated study, published in the International Journal of Palliative Nursing, found that through the use of an 1-800-HOSPICE phone number service in Australia, end-of-life patients were able to reduce ambulance contact and emergency department admission, and increase their likelihood of dying at home (for patients whose preference was to die at home).
