Ashford University Named to the 2012 List of Military Friendly Schools by G.I. Jobs Magazine

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Ashford University has been recognized on the 2012 List of Military Friendly Schools by G.I. Jobs magazine. The annual list honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools doing the most to embrace America's military service members and veterans as students.

"The Military Friendly Schools list is the go-to resource for prospective student veterans searching for schools that provide the right overall experience," said Michael Dakduk, executive director for the Student Veterans of America. "Nothing is more compelling than actual feedback from current student veterans."

The G.I. Jobs list of Military Friendly Schools was compiled by polling more than 8,000 schools in the nation using criteria, methodology and weighting developed by an Academic Advisory Board. Schools on the list offer scholarships and discounts, veterans' clubs, full-time staff, military credit and other services to those who have served in the military.

"Ashford University is dedicated to serving those in the armed forces and their families. The pursuit of higher education has always been challenging for these courageous men and women due to the demands of military service," said Dr. Elizabeth Tice, president and CEO for Ashford University. "Ashford University recognizes their contribution to our nation and offers a high quality educational opportunity that is also affordable, flexible and convenient to access from anywhere in the world."

Ashford University provides education benefits to all eligible service members and their spouses. The university's military grant also waives technology fees and pays for all books and applicable shipping costs for qualified military students. In addition, Ashford University provides a specialized team of advisors who assist students with admissions, academic and financial needs.
