Ashghal Aspires to Achieve World-Class Road Infrastructure Through an Impressive Five Year Spending Plan

DUBAI, UAE, February 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- In recent months, Qatar's construction and infrastructure industry has provided a focal point of interest for both regional and international consultants and contractors looking to break into this lucrative market. Ashghal, Public Works Authority, have pledged to increase spending to improve the quality and safety of roads in the country with an estimated $20 billion allocated for road projects over the next five years.

Qatar has embarked on a definitive mission to increase infrastructure to meet the pace of demand, deliver high quality roads projects according to schedule and to improve the overall safety of roads for the country.

The early evidence of the five year plan is highlighted by three of their biggest road projects which are currently underway. The Doha Expressway, currently under construction is valued at $27 million, the Dukhan Highway also under construction has been valued at $300 million and the largest proposed project, the Lusail Highway which is currently being tendered has been valued at an impressive $687 million.

Ashghal are dedicated to establishing adequate infrastructure to support the influx of visitors expected during 2022 FIFA World Cup and position Qatar as a business hub. The country will face its own unique challenges, due to previous insufficient masterplanning and future forecasting of existing roads.
