Asia's Largest Offshore Wind Event to be Held in Shanghai, June 15-17

SHANGHAI, June 15, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- The Offshore Wind China 2011 Conference & Exhibition, Asia's largest and the world's second largest offshore wind event, will be staged with a new look at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre on June 15-17, 2011. Offshore wind leaders both within and outside of China will take an active part in proving the unique charm of China as the country with the most potential for offshore wind power development in the world.

The event is jointly organized by the Chinese Renewable Energy Industries Association, Chinese Renewable Energy Industries Committee and Shanghai International Exhibition Co., Ltd. Following the success of the previous three sessions, the organizers will join hands again to present a more superior event. Moving to the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, which features more advanced facilities, the exhibition will cover an area which doubles that of the last session. The conference will be held in the newly built Shangri-La's Kerry Hotel Pudong, with the number of attendees expected to approach 800.

Global warming has highlighted the need for environmental protection and green economy and the global financial crisis has led to a faster development of emerging industries. The new technology revolution is already a major trend in industrial development worldwide. Against the background, a number of countries have released their sustainable development strategies with a focus on "Green New Deal, Green Economy" to make them at the forefront of green economy in the future. Wind power is now the world's fastest growing energy source, and offshore wind power represents the most advanced wind power generation technology, arousing world-wide interest from governments and investors. Wind power equipment manufacturers will work with their supporting suppliers to create an offshore wind power ecosystem. Highlight Two: Strong support from responsible authorities

The exhibition has received strong support from and will see active participation by responsible Chinese and foreign government authorities, including national-level National Energy Administration, Ministry of Science and Technology, the Chinese Renewable Energy Industries Association and Chinese Renewable Energy Industries Committee, as well as regional-level Shanghai Municipal Development and Reform Commission, the Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality and the Shanghai Economy and Information Technology Commission. Highlight Three: International level achieving a new height

The offshore wind developed countries have attached great importance to the event by the participation of national pavilions from Norway, Denmark and Germany among other foreign countries. They will present the latest technologies and developments in offshore wind together with Chinese enterprises. The numerous speakers including governmental officials, enterprise leaders, specialists and scholars will gather again in Shanghai to discuss the world's most advanced offshore wind technologies. The event will witness a higher international level with the overseas percentage of speakers and delegates exceeding 40%.

Highlight Four: Trading platform function further improved

As a professional platform for communication and cooperation, this year's event will further develop its trading function. Sourcing teams from Sinovel, Vestas and Shanghai Electric will conduct trade meetings for the participating wind turbine manufacturers and components suppliers during the event, which will provide a face-to-face and real-life experience. This year's event also attracts attention from multiple upstream and downstream enterprises in the industrial chain as well as relative industry associations.
