AsiaWorld-Expo Proudly Welcomes the Inaugural CARTES in Asia

HONG KONG, March 11 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- AsiaWorld-Expo, Asia's leading exhibition and convention venue, is pleased to announce that the inaugural CARTES in Asia exhibition and congress will be held at the venue on 16-18 March 2010. Since its launch in 1986, CARTES has established itself as one of the world's foremost smart-technology events, held annually in Paris. This month's event in Hong Kong is the first time the event has come to Asia.

"Smart technology is growing faster in Asia Pacific and China than in any other regions in the world, which creates extraordinary business opportunities," remarked Mr. Michael Weatherseed, Director of Comexposium's Security Division, which includes the Milipol and Cartes brands. "With its strategic location on the doorstep of China, AsiaWorld-Expo provides the ideal gateway for accessing this dynamic market. In fact, AsiaWorld-Expo offers a great location, excellent facilities and a very professional and supportive team."

The three-day CARTES in Asia event will bring together the industry's leading players, decision makers and industry analysts for a high-level exhibition and conference of the latest smart and digital technologies by over 100 exhibitors. In total, some 300 delegates are expected at the conference, and up to several thousand trade visitors at the exhibition. In partnership with the China Information Industry Trade Association (CIITA) and supported by major Chinese smart card and general industry associations, a dedicated China Pavilion with the theme of "The National Golden Card Projects Excellent Achievements" can also be seen at this inaugural edition of CARTES in Asia.

"It's a great honour to welcome the inaugural CARTES in Asia to our venue," said Allen Ha, Chief Executive Officer, AsiaWorld-Expo Management Limited. "AsiaWorld-Expo has been playing a key role in bringing together business and opportunity, particularly in terms of enabling access to the vibrant markets of China and the Asia region. Capitalising on the rapid economic growth of China's Pearl River Delta (PRD) region and the economic integration of the region, I'm confident that we will continue attracting high-profile global events to Hong Kong that further underscore our unique position as a global MICE destination."

For Hong Kong, digital and smart technology is an especially topical issue right now as the Hong Kong Pavilion at the upcoming World Expo 2010 in Shanghai will feature Octopus Card technology. For people wanting to keep abreast of the latest trends, another fascinating topic at the CARTES in Asia event will be 'Convergence in Motion', namely the paradigm shift that is fundamentally changing where and when business is conducted. Many analysts are predicting that this shift in where and how business transactions take place will be even more profound than the proliferation of e-commerce. CARTES in Asia will enable visitors to inspect the latest innovations at the forefront of this revolution. For details about CARTES in Asia, please visit the website at http://www.cartes-asia.com .
