Assessment Results That Could Affect 2025 HVAC Claims Decisions

HVACi releases Annual Claims Report highlighting HVAC equipment, perils, and trends impacting policyholders in 2024.

CHARLOTTE, N.C., March 26, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Already this year, policyholders across the country have filed claims for damages related to wind, hail, wildfires, and water. However, these causes of loss, when attributed to HVAC and refrigeration failures, are often not related and could lead to unnecessary insurance settlements, according to the newly released HVACi 2024 Annual Claims Report.

Among the key findings in the report are that 39% of the evaluated HVAC and refrigeration equipment was found to have an actual cause of loss not typically covered by insurance policies, and more than 50% of all reported causes of loss were recategorized to a more accurate conclusion following an objective independent assessment.
