Assurant Solutions Delivers New Protection Plans for PlayStation®

ATLANTA, Sept. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Assurant Solutions, a leading global provider of extended service plans and part of Assurant, Inc. (NYSE: AIZ), a premier provider of specialized insurance products and related services, today announced that it is underwriting and managing risk and compliance for the PlayStation® Protection Plan offered by Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC (SCEA). The extended service program gives owners of the PlayStation®3 (PS3™) and PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) systems the option to purchase one or two years of additional coverage beyond the one-year manufacturer's warranty.

Under the new partnership, SCEA is responsible for marketing, sales and customer service for the extended service plan, while Assurant Solutions provides risk management, legal and compliance services, program and marketing consultation.  As part of Assurant Solutions' flexible modular approach, SCEA was able to choose from Assurant's fully integrated service contract capabilities those resources and capabilities they did not have in-house.

PS3 and PSP owners in the United States can purchase an extended protection plan through customer service centers and PlayStation®Network.  PSP owners also can choose the Accidental Damage Plan, which covers a cracked screen if the system is accidentally dropped.
