Astrum Solar, Gov. Martin O'Malley and Howard County Executive Ken Ulman Team Up for Special Residential Solar Installation Event
Leaders Join Solar Company to Mark Earth Day, Tout Green Job Growth in Maryland
ANNAPOLIS JUNCTION, Md., April 21 /PRNewswire/ -- As Marylanders across the state tomorrow commemorate Earth Day, Astrum Solar (www.astrumsolar.com), the mid-Atlantic's fastest growing installer of residential and small commercial solar panels, will be joined by Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley and Howard County Executive Ken Ulman for a special residential solar installation event to mark the occasion.
The installation event will take place at the Clarksville, Md., home of Len and Michelle Ostroff and is part of Gov. O'Malley's "Jobs Across Maryland" tour. Gov. O'Malley will be joined by Howard County Executive Ulman in assisting in the solar panel installation on the roof. The governor, along with the county executive, Astrum Solar Vice President and Co-founder Josh Goldberg and the homeowner will then make brief remarks to highlight the value of green jobs across Maryland.
"The ongoing development of green jobs will play a critical role in Maryland's long-term economic growth," said Governor Martin O'Malley. "Companies like Astrum Solar are creating a wide range of career opportunities for Maryland citizens and helping the state continue to be a leader in renewable energy."
The special Earth Day installation, meanwhile, comes on the heels of Astrum Solar's recent announcement that the company has doubled the size of its Annapolis Junction headquarters, both in office and warehouse space, to accommodate its rapid business expansion. The company also announced that it has hired 40 professionals in Maryland over the last year and will continue to aggressively recruit qualified candidates to join its growing team.
"We're proud to join with Gov. O'Malley and County Executive Ulman in creating new jobs and economic opportunity within the state," said Astrum Solar President Vadim Polikov, PhD. "The time to go solar is now. With every month that goes by, more and more Maryland homeowners learn about solar energy and immediately see the promise and opportunity it holds for them and their families."
Astrum Solar, which has served hundreds of customers to date, is on pace to complete 500 installations this year. In addition to being the fastest-growing company of its kind in the mid-Atlantic, it is also one of the region's largest aggregators of Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SRECs). Astrum Solar is the only installer offering upfront value for a homeowner's SRECs, making the initial investment in solar power more affordable than ever.
