MIAMI, Jan. 17, 2018 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ -- Atresmedia Internacional launches Atrescine, a new HD Spanish language network dedicated to Spanish cinema and aimed to appeal the Hispanic audience. This new addition expands the group's range of international channels, which already includes Antena 3, Atreseries and ¡HOLA! TV.
Atrescine introduces itself to the Hispanic public with the biggest catalog of Spanish movies from every era and genre –over 7,000 titles—thanks to its partnership with Video Mercury Films, the largest distributor of Spanish cinema in the world and owner of more than 70% of all films ever produced in Spain.
The new channel will also have access to Atresmedia Cine titles, which closed out 2017 as a leading movie producer, taking in over 30 million euros from nine feature films and accounting for 31.8% of box office receipts for Spanish movies.
This new channel masterfully combines the best modern cinema with an excellent selection of classic titles to showcase Spain's contribution to the seventh art on the American continent.
Javier Nuche, the CEO of Atresmedia Internacional, notes that the launch of Atrescine "is the result of our strategy of committing to a portfolio of complementary channels with high-quality content and a strong VoD component that solidifies our standing as one of the leading programmers in Latin America and the Latino market in the USA". He adds that "the strategic alliance with Video Mercury, combined with Atresmedia's strength as a leading producer of Spanish films and its in-depth knowledge of the market, will allow us to create a unique channel that's targeted at a very wide audience, and overtake the strong competition already in place".
Atresmedia Internacional's offer will delight with movies that are already part of the history of film, from cinematographic jewels of the 50s and 60s to the biggest Spanish box-office draws.
As a result, Atrescine's billboard will feature great directors recognized at the best international festivals --Luis García Berlanga, Fernando Trueba, Pedro Almodóvar, Álex de la Iglesia and José Luis Garci—, as well as current and past actors, legends who defined an era -- Sara Montiel, Rocio Dúrcal, Alfredo Landa, Lola Flores and Raphael--, alongside Hollywood stars like Antonio Banderas, Penélope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Jordi Mollà and Paz Vega.
