ATS Apologizes for Dramatization of Winning Tickets
Images Used Were Meant to Draw Attention to Correct Predictions
BALTIMORE, July 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- ATS Consultants, a sports consulting firm with over two decades in the industry, today apologized for a marketing strategy meant to highlight some of the firm's recent big wins for their clients.
In a press release issued on June 30, 2012, the company publicized a large, pre-season wager made on the Miami Heat winning the 2012 NBA championship, as well a couple of other bets. The press release included a link to images of winning tickets.
"We overstepped on this, and take full responsibility for it," said Jordan Runco, president of ATS Consultants. "Our marketing team is always thinking of ways to showcase our successes. We did make these predictions, and the amounts shown on the images were a projection of the money our clients won based on these forecasts. We thought having images of winning tickets would make these successes more easily relatable to current and prospective clients. In hindsight, it was just a poorly conceived marketing tactic."
Runco said the images were only done as a dramatization of winning wagers, and the firm didn't have any intention of trying to cash the tickets. He added that ATS has no relationship with The MGM, Mirage, M Resort or Pimlico race track.
"I apologize to anyone who was misled or confused about this. That includes our current and prospective clients, members of the media, and casinos in question. I know we'll take a credibility hit in some circles for this – and we deserve that."
