In its second year, IDC's "Innovative Companies To Watch Under $100M" honors key vendors that are advancing efforts around the trends published in IDC's Top Ten Predictions series. Attensity was highlighted in the "Search-Based Application" category. IDC defines search-based applications as designed to solve a particular business problem or streamline a business process that has a strong need for information, usually from multiple sources. Attensity was recognized for its text analytics application that is designed to make nonspecialist users able to easily "monitor social media, understand the voice of the customer and support compliance or eDiscovery." IDC solicited entries from vendors of less than $100 million that exemplify specific key trends (selected by analysts) that are driving change in a specific software market.
