Attorney Ken Nunn Makes $25,000 Pledge for Conviction in Case of Lauren Spierer; Questions Lack of Video Surveillance in Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON, Ind., June 9, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Today Bloomington attorney Ken Nunn added his name to those assisting in the search for missing Indiana University sophomore Lauren Spierer, pledging a $25,000 reward for information leading to the capture and conviction of any persons responsible for her disappearance.

Nunn has met and spoken with Spierer family members, who have made their own pledge of $100,000 to assist in Lauren's safe return.

Nunn is also questioning the lack of video surveillance cameras at Bloomington traffic intersections, which may have helped police in their investigation of the case. He pointed to other cities that have installed this type of surveillance equipment, such as Lafayette, Ind., and Philadelphia, Penn.

"These surveillance cameras serve to prevent crime, and also to solve crimes. In this instance, I don't know if the cameras would've prevented it. I do know the cameras could have helped solve who did it, and possibly brought Lauren safely back into her parents' arms already," Nunn said.

Federal funding has been available to assist municipalities in installing public surveillance systems, Nunn said, and faulted Bloomington officials for not pursuing this option.

"My sincerest hope is for the safe return of Lauren to her family. I also urge the city of Bloomington to make video surveillance a priority, so IU students and their parents will know the city is a safe place for them to live and attend school," Nunn said.
