Austin-Based Clearity Health Launches Physician-Led Medical Bill Negotiation Service With Fees Capped at $1,000

Patients pay nothing upfront, and only pay if Clearity saves them money

AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Clearity Health, founded by physicians Dr. Shankar Arul and Dr. Arthur Abello, today announced the launch of its medical bill negotiation service. Clearity's physician-led team reviews a patient's medical bill for errors and overcharges, then negotiates with the provider on the patient's behalf. Patients pay nothing upfront and only pay if Clearity saves them money: 20% of the savings Clearity recovers, never more than $1,000.

Clearity combines medical knowledge with bill negotiation expertise to help patients understand what they actually owe. A review looks for duplicate or incorrect charges, potential overcharges, problems with how insurance processed a claim and charges that may not belong on the account. When a bill is technically correct, Clearity still looks for room to negotiate a lower balance.

The service covers bills from hospitals, physicians and other healthcare providers. There is no minimum bill amount, and Clearity can help with bills that are current or already in collections, where negotiation is still possible. Timing depends on the provider, the bill and the complexity of the case, and a review does not guarantee a reduction.

To start, patients upload their medical bill and provide a few basic details. Clearity reviews the bill, works directly with the provider and sends updates by email. If Clearity saves the patient money, the patient pays the provider the reduced amount.
