CONDIT TAKES ON UNDEFEATED DONG HYUN KIM AT UFC® 132 SATURDAY JULY 2, 2011 LIVE FROM THE MANDALAY BAY EVENTS CENTER
DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla., April 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Authentic Sports Management® (ASM®) today announced it is representing mixed martial arts fighter Carlos Condit in a management deal to include sponsorships, appearances and talent representation.
Condit now joins the premiere roster of fighters with ASM including Thiago "The Pitbull" Alves, Alan Belcher, Rashad "Suga" Evans, Kenny "Ken-Flo" Florian, reigning UFC® Light Heavyweight Champion Jon "Bones" Jones and Cole Miller.
"I feel like I'm with the best of the best as far as management, and I can focus on my job as a fighter because ASM is working hard for me," said Condit. "Some of the top fighters in the world are on my team, I have a lot of great talent around me."
UFC recently announced that Condit (26-5-0) will return to the Octagon™on July 2nd in a welterweight showdown against Dong Hyun Kim (14-0-1) as part of the UFC 132 lineup of fights airing live on Pay-Per-View July 2, 2011.
"We are excited to have Carlos on board with us, he's one of the top welterweight competitors in the world," said Malki Kawa, Partner, ASM. "In Carlos' quest for the welterweight title, a win over Dong Hyun Kim should position him as the perfect choice for the number one contender."
Currently riding a three-fight win streak, Condit last fought in October 2010. He stunned the crowd in the sold-out 02 Arena in London with a first round knockout over the top ranked hometown-hero Dan Hardy. Previously, Condit stopped Rory MacDonald in a third round TKO (UFC 115) and defeated Jake Ellenberger via split-decision (UFC Fight Night™/Sept 16, 2009).
"This is a great style matchup, with Kim's Jiu-Jitsu and the fact that he likes to strike, it's going to be a battle," said Condit. "He's undefeated and I know what a win over him will mean for my career. This is a great opportunity and a huge fight in terms of my climb towards the title."
"A win over Condit would break Kim into the top ten and a win over Kim would bring Condit another step closer to a world title shot," said UFC President Dana White in a statement on UFC.com.
Fighting out of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Condit is the former World Extreme Cagefighting® Welterweight Champion. He is 26 years old, 6'2"/170 lbs. and has 10 fights on record with the Ultimate Fighting Championship® organization, the largest mixed martial arts promoter in the world.
Said ASM teammate and fellow UFC welterweight Thiago Alves, "This is a great matchup, both of these guys are incredible fighters, and I think whoever has the right strategy and sticks to it is going to be the winner on July 2. This is a big fight for Carlos and I wish him luck."
UFC 132, featuring the championship main event rematch between Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber takes place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nev.
