The US Congress is 92% Christian, according to work done by the Pew Research's Religion and Public Life Project. However, that figure belies a major divide in actual theological beliefs.  Democratic Party Representatives and Senators are more religiously diverse than Republicans. Twelve percent of Congressional Democrats are 12% Jewish. The Democrats also have two Buddhists, two Muslims, one Hindu and one unaffiliated member. Among 301 Republicans in the 114th Congress, Representative Lee Zeldin of New York is the only non-Christian. He's Jewish.  In contrast, 44% of Democrats are Protestant, 35% Catholic and 1% Mormon.
