Patrick Sweeney most recently served as Global Head of Cloudflare Area 1 Security, where he led the integration and go-to-market strategy following Cloudflare's acquisition of Area 1 Security in April 2022. As President & CEO of Area 1 Security, Sweeney pioneered a unique approach to preemptive phishing protection, delivering the industry's first Pay-per-Phish performance-based model—trusted by Fortune 500 companies across financial services, healthcare, and critical infrastructure.
Prior to that, he was CEO of Talari Networks, where he steered the company to a successful acquisition by Oracle in 2018. Patrick has held senior executive roles at Dell Security Group, SonicWALL, Silicon Graphics, and Apple Computer, where he built a reputation for reinvigorating engineering and marketing teams, accelerating product development, and scaling go-to-market strategies. His expertise spans product strategy, enterprise pipeline development, M&A, and team building.
He holds an MBA from Santa Clara University and a BSM from Tulane University.
