Autoweek Editors honor the Best of The 2015 Geneva Motor Show

DETROIT, March 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Autoweek editorial staff presented Bentley with the 2015 Geneva motor show's Autoweek Editors' Choice Award for Best in Show. The EXP 10 Speed 6 follows the Bentley script—gorgeous styling combined with potentially neck-snapping performance.

For decades Autoweek editors have walked the show floors in Geneva, Paris, Frankfurt, Detroit, Shanghai, Beijing and Tokyo, selecting winners in four categories: Best in Show, Best Concept, Most Significant and Most Fun.

Autoweek names the Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 Best in Show at the Geneva Motor Show.

The 2015 Autoweek Editors' Choice Award winners for the best of the auto show in Geneva are:

BEST IN SHOW: Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6
Autoweek editors discussed what category this car should win, but there was never any question it would win something. In the end, it won Best in Show with no other cars even considered. The Bentley was a surprise—there was no teaser campaign alerting us to its debut; but the large, elegant two-seater looked great and had a knockout interior. As for the car's future, Bentley boss Wolfgang Durheimer says it could be a future model for Bentley alongside the Continental GT. We'd love to see the EXP 10 happen.

BEST CONCEPT: Aston Martin DBX Concept
Like the EXP 10 Speed 6, the Aston was an out-of-the-blue surprise in more ways than one. Not only did we not see it coming, we'd never have guessed that of all automakers Aston Martin would do an electric all-wheel-drive crossover. Aston says the concept has luxury/performance features buyers expect and uses lithium-sulfur battery-powered motors mounted inboard of each wheel supplying the all-wheel-drive electric oomph. There's drive-by-wire electric steering, passenger and driver head-up displays and auto-dimming smart glass. No wonder it took a couple hours before we could get some shots of the car without a mob around it.

MOST FUN: Ferrari 488 GTB
Our Most Fun category is usually chosen after asking this question: Of all the cars on the show floor, which one would we want to take out and go for a drive in—no question, this year it's Ferrari's 488 GTB. Maranello's new mid-engine supercar promises track performance in a car equally well suited to the street. A 3.9-liter turbo V8 producing 661 hp and 560 lb-ft of torque powers the car, that's good enough for 3.0 seconds to 62 mph and 8.3 seconds to 124 mph, on to a 205-mph top speed. Fun, indeed.

MOST SIGNIFICANT: Volkswagen Sport Coupe Concept GTE
VW's Sport Coupe Concept GTE won our Most Significant for several reasons. It debuts the brand's new design language, the car's hybrid powertrain uses the VW Group's MQB platform, a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 is coupled to a plug-in hybrid system for 32-miles of pure-electric range and the total driving range on a tank of gas tops more than 745 miles. Sounds significant to us.
