NEW YORK, Feb. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- During the first two weekends in February, over 10,000 cyclists from across the country teamed up with friends, family and coworkers in New York City, Chicago, Long Island, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington, DC and at satellite events worldwide to participate in Cycle for Survival. Cycle for Survival is a national, indoor relay-style team cycling event that has raised more than $14 million in support of lifesaving research on rare cancers at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, and in the past five years has funded 25 clinical trials and research studies.
Among the 10,000 cyclists was TEAM avVenta, which was led by Tami Holzman, avVenta Worldwide's Executive Vice President of Global Business Development. TEAM avVenta participated in the Los Angeles event on February 4th at the Equinox Westwood. "We are honored that avVenta was able to support Cycle for Survival. It was an amazing, high-energy and inspirational day," said Holzman, after completing her four-hour shift. avVenta was invited to this charity event through Michael Lazerow, Chief Executive Officer & Co-Founder of Buddy Media.
