The event was the sixth stop of the 16-city "Avon Believe World Tour" to celebrate the company's heritage and belief in its mission to empower women. Throughout 2011, approximately 125,000 Avon Representatives will participate in the Avon Believe World Tour as it visits Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles, London, Istanbul, Chicago, Mexico City, Warsaw, Moscow, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Manila, Shanghai, New Delhi and Johannesburg. In addition to Fergie, special guests who have joined Avon at past stops of the Tour include Reese Witherspoon, Patrick Dempsey, Yasmin Le Bon and Suze Orman. Zoe Saldana and other celebrity guests are expected to make appearances at future stops.
"New York City is a special stop on the Avon World Tour since it was here, in 1886, that our founder David H. McConnell started this company with a dream of empowering women to earn an income to support themselves and their families. Today, New York City and the surrounding areas are home to thousands of Avon Representatives and customers who believe as strongly in Avon now as our founder did 125 years ago," said Ms. Jung. "And hosting our celebration with Fergie in the legendary Madison Square Garden truly makes this occasion even more memorable."
During the event, Fergie previewed her fragrance Outspoken Intense, scheduled for global launch in late Summer, and available exclusively through Avon Representatives. Outspoken Intense is the second fragrance developed for the company by Fergie; the first fragrance, Outspoken, debuted in August 2010 and was the best selling fragrance launch in Avon history. Fergie is also the spokesperson for Avon's global hair care brand Advance Techniques.
As a highlight to the program, Jung and Fergie presented a grant of $100,000 to New York City-based organization, HELP USA, to continue its work to support victims of domestic violence.
"I have had the pleasure of seeing Avon's impact on women around the world and I am so proud to lend my name and support to Avon's great work," said Fergie. "It's an honor to be affiliated with a company that is so committed to giving back to the causes that matter most to women."
The donation is part of the new $2 million Avon Global Believe Fund created to help support women's domestic violence shelters and agencies in each of the 16 cities on the tour, as well as other Avon markets worldwide. Avon and the Avon Foundation for Women are funding an international network of outstanding nonprofit organizations to help them provide critical life-saving services for victims of domestic violence and their families. This global effort also aims to draw attention to the alarming lack of adequate services for women and children who are victims of domestic violence in communities everywhere.

In addition to the Avon Believe World Tour and Avon Global Believe Fund, Avon is also celebrating 125 years of empowering women with its previously-announced program, Avon Voices, its first-ever online singing talent search for women and songwriting competition for women and men.
