Attorney Richard Jaffe has a long history of legal practice behind him, beginning with his graduation from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1976. He began his legal career as a prosecutor, where he gained insight into how District Attorneys and criminal court judges approach criminal defense cases. In 1978, Attorney Jaffe decided to shift gears to open a private practice with other criminal defense lawyers, officially launching Jaffe, Hanle, Whisonant & Knight, P.C.
Throughout his career, Attorney Jaffe has personally handled nearly 80 defense cases involving criminal charges that could be met with capital punishment if conviction was secured by the state. He holds membership to the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, Super Lawyers®, Best Lawyers® of America, and the Greater Birmingham Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.
