Since 1961, BabyBjorn has manufactured innovative products for infants and toddlers with the goal of simplifying everyday life for parents and children. To date, more than 30 million children worldwide have been carried by their mothers and fathers in BabyBjorn baby carriers.
The iconic product was developed by founder and CEO Bjorn Jakobson after scientific research proved the importance of eye-to-eye and skin-to-skin contact between parents and newborns. The baby carriers make it possible for parents to safely enjoy important physical contact with their babies and simultaneously keep their hands free. Medical research continues to support the benefits of wearing baby close to the heart, decades after the first BabyBjorn carriers were created.
All BabyBjorn carriers are designed in close collaboration with pediatricians. They properly support baby's head, neck and back while keeping baby's legs and hips in the correct position. The carrier structure allows plenty of space for movement of arms and legs, which stimulates baby's motor skills, muscles and balance.
"Through 50 years of personal and professional experience with infant and baby products, we have witnessed the value and benefits of close contact between parents and infants," said Jakobson. "By donating BabyBjorn carriers to families at neonatology medical units, we are providing parents and infants a safe and convenient option to keep baby close to the heart and ignite a lasting bond."
BabyBjorn chose to donate 50 baby carriers and distribute them to ten hospitals identified by U.S. News and World Report's as "Top Ranked Pediatric Hospitals for Neonatology." Each hospital received today five BabyBjorn Baby Carriers to distribute to the parents of babies in the neonatal unit.
The list of recipients includes Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Children's Hospital of Boston, Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital, Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford, New York Presbyterian University Hospital, Children's National Medical Center, Johns Hopkins Children's Center, The Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA, Mass General Hospital for Children and St. Louis Children's Hospital.
