BakeMark expands its Leadership Team

PICO RIVERA, Calif., Sept. 24, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- BakeMark has announced today the appointments of Matthew M. Kunz as Senior Vice President of Supply Chain, effective September 27, 2018 and Steve Scales as Senior Vice President of National Sales, effective September 28, 2018.

Kunz brings over 27 years of experience, expertise and leadership in Supply Chain and Operations, with companies such as Shell Oil, Sprint/Nextel, CSM Bakery Supplies North America and Hostess Brands. Most recently, he served as the Senior Vice President of Supply Chain & Logistics at Hostess Brands, where he was responsible for leading the Supply Chain teams, which included Customer Service, Demand Forecasting, Production Scheduling, Inventory, Transportation and Warehousing. Kunz graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor's degree in Transportation & Logistics and from The Ohio State University with an MBA.

Scales has spent over 30 years in the food industry, with companies such as Nestle, Campbell Soup Company and Corbion. He has held various leadership roles in Sales, National Accounts and Contract Management, and most recently, he served as Vice President of Key Accounts with Corbion. In this position, he was responsible for Key Accounts, customer relationships and new business development. Scales graduated from the University of South Florida with a bachelor's degree in Advertising/Marketing.   

In their new roles at BakeMark, Kunz will oversee the Supply Chain and Procurement functions within BakeMark, in addition to indirectly overseeing Branch Operations, while Scales will oversee National Sales. They both will report to Gary Schmidt, who was recently appointed as the President & CEO of BakeMark.

This news also follows BakeMark's recent acquisitions of the Best Brands and Multifoods brands, in addition to the acquisition of two manufacturing plants in the US, all a part of their growth and expansion strategies under the ownership of Pamplona Capital Management.
