Baker School System Transforms Benefits Administration with Benefitfocus Technology
Wright & Percy Insurance Helps Clients Simplify Benefits Enrollment and Administration
CHARLESTON, S.C. & BAKER, La., Dec. 9, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Benefitfocus today announced that the City of Baker School System (Baker Schools), a Wright & Percy Insurance client, has successfully implemented the Benefitfocus Platform and HR InTouch Application for automated benefits administration and enrollment. Wright & Percy, a division of BancorpSouth Insurance Services, Inc., recently introduced Benefitfocus HR InTouch to many of its clients in the state of Louisiana. Baker Schools was the first Wright & Percy client to implement HR InTouch, which has transformed the school system's administrative processes and simplified enrollment for all of its employees.
Prior to using HR InTouch, Baker Schools had a completely paper-based benefits administration system, which proved to be time-consuming for employees and HR administrators alike. The process was so cumbersome that Wright & Percy functioned as the school district's back-up office for all HR-related tasks.
Benefitfocus HR InTouch, privately labeled "N-Roll" for Wright & Percy Insurance, provides a Web-based portal for benefits management and enrollment. Baker Schools' HR staff can administer their entire benefits program through HR InTouch. Because employee benefits data is stored electronically within the application, Baker Schools has been able to minimize coverage errors and create more efficient reconciliation processes with its insurance carriers. Significant cost savings continue to be realized by Baker Schools as they have automated paper-based systems and data integration with insurance carriers.
"The Benefitfocus technology resonates well with our employees. The employee portal is easy to use and has created a stress-free Open Enrollment period for everyone involved," said Sidney Stewart, Business Manager of the City of Baker School System.
HR InTouch simplifies the enrollment process for employees with an intuitive "One-Thought-Per-Screen" design. Employees can complete benefit elections at their own pace and are able to compare plans side-by-side before selecting the options that are right for them. This makes the entire process more manageable and helps employees to understand and appreciate their benefits.
"The HR InTouch portal gives our clients an opportunity to personalize benefits enrollment for their employees," said Amy Underwood of Wright & Percy Insurance. "HR administrators can post useful documents, notes or videos on specific screens within the enrollment process, which makes the experience even more user-friendly."
The Benefitfocus Platform and HR InTouch Application are delivered via Software as a Service (SaaS). With no additional hardware involved, the technology eliminates the costs of installation and maintenance for Baker Schools. All data is stored in off-site servers, ensuring that employee personal health information remains secure. Benefitfocus makes upgrades to the software frequently throughout the year, ensuring that all clients have access to the most up-to-date and advanced software.
"We're happy to support Wright & Percy and their clients as we work together to provide our technology across the Southeast region," said Annmarie Fini, SVP of Employer Business Unit at Benefitfocus. "It is especially gratifying to be involved with multiple academic institutions as they modernize administrative systems and offer benefits to our nation's educators. The Baker School system is setting a great example for other school districts across the country."
