Ballentine Partners Appoints Lorne Adrain as Managing Director

WALTHAM, Mass., May 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Ballentine Partners has named Lorne Adrain, CLU, as Managing Director. Mr. Adrain has joined the firm to lead business development activities.

Mr. Adrain is an active philanthropic and community leader. He was appointed by Rhode Island's Governor Lincoln Chafee to Chairman of the Board of Governors for Higher Education and to the Rhode Island Board of Regents for Elementary and Secondary Education. He is vice president and director of the Harvard Business School Alumni Association and serves on the Boards of The Rhode Island Foundation, Big Picture Learning and The Business Innovation Factory. He is also the founder of National Neighborhood Day and is co-founder of Social Venture Partners-Rhode Island and BetterProvidence.

Mr. Adrain formerly served as chairman of the Rhode Island Special Olympics and president of the University of Rhode Island Alumni Association. He received the Rhode Island Foundation Inspiring Partner Award and the Jefferson Award for Public Service. He has climbed Kilimanjaro, Elbrus, Aconcagua and other peaks to raise funds to support women's education as well as economic and health programs in Guatemala.

He earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS from the University of Rhode Island and is a Chartered Life Underwriter.

Mr. Adrain and his wife Ann Hood live in Providence, RI and have four children.
