Bankers Healthcare Group Participates In The 9/11 Memorial 5K
NEW YORK, May 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- On Sunday, April 24, 2016 Bankers Healthcare Group employees participated in the 9/11 Memorial 5K run in New York City to remember the devastating tragedy that occurred in 2001. Fundraising efforts contributed to the 9/11 Memorial and Museum.
"The continued remembrance of 9/11 is of great importance to our entire nation, and especially to the New York City community," said BHG Chief Business Development Officer Tyler Crawford. "The individuals employed at our New York City office were proud to be a part of this event and contribute to fundraising for the 9/11 Memorial and Museum."
Prior to the start of the race, 9/11 Memorial President Joe Daniels spoke to the crowd and there were several musical performances. During the three-mile route, participants walked and ran along Battery Park City and ended at the finish line where the Twin Towers once stood on Rector and Greenwich streets. Following the race, participants were invited to attend Community Day where members of the West Point Band performed.
There were 10 BHG employees who participated, including BHG Organic Sales Manager Jonathan Grundfast. "Being a native New Yorker, supporting this cause means a great deal to me," said Grundfast. "It was especially moving to see all of the fire fighters and police officers along the route. Crossing the finish line right under the brand new Freedom Tower, where the old towers once stood, was an incredible moment."
In addition to the BHG employees who participated in the race, Bankers Healthcare Group also set a fundraising goal of $1000, which was exceeded by 151 percent for a total of $1,510. Donations will support the 9/11 Memorial and Museum.
