BBVA Compass Announces the Appointment of Guillermo Trevino to its Board of Directors

HOUSTON, March 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- BBVA Compass announced Guillermo Trevino has been appointed to the boards of directors of BBVA Compass and its parent, BBVA Compass Bancshares, Inc. Trevino, who is known as "Memo," will serve on the boards' Audit and Compliance Committees. He will also serve on the BBVA Compass board's Wealth Management and Trust Committees.

Trevino served as a director of the International Bank of Commerce in Laredo, Texas from 2008 until 2011. He also served on the board of the San Antonio branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas from 2006 until 2011.

Trevino has made significant contributions to the Laredo business community. He is president of Southern Distributing, a beer and soft drink distributor, which is part of the Southern Group of companies owned and managed by the Trevino family. The companies provide warehousing and commercial waste services and make real estate investments.

Trevino is a past president of the Laredo Chamber of Commerce and the Laredo Development Foundation.  He is a lifetime director and past president of the Washington's Birthday Celebration, a member of the Caballeros de la Republica del Rio Grande, a founding governor of the Goliard Travel Scholarship at Rice University, a director of the Texas Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs, member of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Laredo executive committee, founding treasurer of the South Texas Food Bank and member of the Texas A&M International University, College of Business, Advisory Committee.
