BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Aug. 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of an ongoing partnership with the University of Alabama Athletics Department, BBVA Compass is giving Alabama fans a new way to display their Crimson Tide pride with a series of Bama-branded Visa® check cards, through the bank's Bama® Banking program. The new designs will commemorate the university's four national championships of 2012, including the 21-0 shutout against LSU in football, a sixth NCAA Championship in gymnastics, the first championship in women's golf, and becoming the first Southeastern Conference team to win a NCAA softball title.
"It's not just football anymore – for the first time, we will be offering customized cards that feature images of former collegiate athletes who led the University of Alabama to national title victories in women's golf, softball and gymnastics," said Jon Mulkin, consumer segment director at BBVA Compass. "With Alabama seeing its most successful athletics year in school history, we are thrilled to be able to recognize these distinguished athletic programs that bleed crimson."
Checking account customers with a check card can choose from six card designs, with three options showcasing women's golf, softball and gymnastics. Three football-inspired designs are available, including an option emblazoned with the university's championship ring.
"Winning our second NCAA Championship in a row, and sixth overall, was an incredible moment for our athletes," said Sarah Patterson, gymnastics head coach at the University of Alabama. "We're big on building rich traditions and winning programs, and with a strong Alabama presence, it's fitting that BBVA Compass has always been a proud supporter of our athletic programs."
Customers receive one free personalized check card with every BBVA Compass consumer Build-to-Order Checking® account and three free personalized check cards with Business Build-to-Order Checking® accounts. All other checking account customers may obtain a personalized check card for a $10 fee.
