BBVA Compass Updates Everyday Heroes Program

- Program includes enhanced offering of financial products for community service providers

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., April 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- BBVA Compass is enhancing its Everyday Heroes program for community service providers, adding special offers on savings accounts, mortgages, lines of credit, auto loans and credit card rewards points.

"The Everyday Heroes program is our chance to give back to those unsung individuals who dedicate their lives to helping others," said Josh Diker, BBVA Compass mass market segment director.

The program is available to current or new customers who qualify as an "Everyday Hero," including teachers, law enforcement officers, fire fighters, healthcare workers, and members of the U.S. military, whether active duty, retired or in the reserves.*

New elements of the Everyday Heroes program include the BBVA Compass Home Care Mortgage with the Community Solutions Option. The fixed-rate mortgage provides financing for nearly the entire purchase price without private mortgage insurance and less restrictive qualifications.

The program, which offers customers who qualify for a complimentary Build-to-Order Checking account, now includes the ability to monitor personal information online with the MyPrivacy solution for 12 months at no charge. Access to a Basic Savings Account also has been added to the program, which includes no quarterly Service Charge (monthly in Arizona) if there is an automatic, recurring monthly transfer of $25 or more from the Build-to-Order Checking account to the Basic Savings account.

Other additions to the program include:

5,000 bonus points added to the CompassPoints rewards program after the first $500 in purchases on a new ClearPoints or Visa Signature credit card;
$100 account credit after the first $1,000 advance on a Simplified Line of Credit;
Up to .50% (50 basis points) off standard home equity loan interest rates;
Lower down payments on auto loan purchases.

Build-to-Order Checking accounts and check cards are subject to approval, which may include credit approval. A $25 minimum opening deposit is required. Additional terms may apply; refer to your account disclosure for details. Miscellaneous fees and service charges may apply.

There is a monthly service charge of $10.95 per statement cycle for Build-to-Order Checking. If the primary accountholder qualifies as an "Everyday Hero" (ID or other verification required), the monthly service charge will not apply. Build-to-Order terms and conditions, including Everyday Hero promotional pricing, are subject to change any time at the discretion of BBVA Compass. To be eligible for this offer, customer cannot have closed a BBVA Compass consumer checking account in the last 90 days.

*An "Everyday Hero" is: 1) a certified teacher or administrator of an accredited or state-recognized public or private school; 2) a sworn member of a law enforcement department responsible for crime detection, prevention, law enforcement or incarceration; 3) a sworn member of a fire department involved in fire suppression or prevention, emergency medical response, hazardous materials response, terrorism response or management; 4) a health care worker who is certified, accredited or licensed to work in the health care industry as a nurse, pharmacist or medical technician; or 5) a person who has served or is currently serving in the U.S. military: active, retired or reserved duty. BBVA Compass reserves the right to review Everyday Hero status on a periodic basis.

Basic Savings Accounts are subject to approval. A $25 minimum opening deposit is required. If you have an automatic, recurring monthly transfer of $25 or more from your BBVA Compass consumer checking account to your Basic Savings account in effect at the time the service charge would be assessed, the service charge will not apply. Otherwise, there is a $500 minimum daily collected balance to avoid the service charge of $15 per quarter ($5 per month in Arizona.)
