BCBSA Announces the "Make Americans Healthier Challenge"

Video contest is looking for the best ideas to improve the health of our communities 

CHICAGO, April 15, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) is launching the "Make Americans Healthier Challenge," a contest asking anyone with a video camera and a great idea that could improve Americans' health to produce and submit a video illustrating their healthy solution. The creator of the best idea could win all or a portion of the $25,000 prize pool.

"We all share the responsibility for improving the health of our communities," said Scott P. Serota, BCBSA president and CEO.  "Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies nationwide are leading the way with innovative care delivery solutions and health and wellness initiatives – but we can't do it alone. We want to hear the best and brightest ideas from across the country and we challenge everyone to put their best thinking forward and help solve this problem."

The "Make Americans Healthier Challenge" will be open for submissions from 12:01 a.m. Central Time (CT) on April 15 until 11:59 p.m. CT on Tuesday, May 28, 2013. Participants can find the entry form for submitting their videos by visiting and "liking" BCBSA's Facebook page. Entries will be judged based on their creativity and originality, achievability, quality as well as the potential of making an impact on health. The creators of the top three videos will get to travel to Chicago and present their ideas to a panel of BCBSA judges for an opportunity to win all or a portion of the $25,000 prize pool. No purchase necessary.  Void where prohibited by law.  The contest is open to legal residents in the U.S./D.C., age 18 and older and the deadline for submissions is 11:59 p.m. (CT) on Tuesday, May 28, 2013. Up to three finalists will be announced in June and required to travel to Chicago, Illinois on a sponsor-selected date to present their ideas to BCBSA. At the conclusion of the contest, BCBSA will award all or a portion of the $25,000 to one or more of the finalists.
