Beacon Health Options Earns ISO Information Security Management System Certification for Three New Locations
ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certification demonstrates the company has achieved the most demanding IT security standards for support of its business processes
BOSTON, June 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Beacon Health Options (Beacon), the national leader in behavioral health management, announced the company has earned the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certification for Information Security Management System for three new locations: Ashburn, Va.; Latham, N.Y.; and Woburn, Mass. The ISO certification is the industry's most widely recognized set of standards for information security.
The accredited certifying body, TÜV NORD, awarded Beacon the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification after the company passed a rigorous audit of information technology (IT) support services for its business processes. ISO is an independent, non-governmental group that applies common standards for 163 countries. Atlas Systems, Inc. helped Beacon prepare for the successful certification process.
In 2016, Beacon was awarded this certification for its Reston, Va. Operations Center. The Operations Center just successfully completed an annual surveillance audit confirming that it continues to meet the certification's stringent requirements.

The 27000 series refers to the ISO family of standards dealing with information security. ISO/IEC 27001:2013 specifies the requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining and continually improving an information security management system within the organization. It also includes requirements for the assessment and treatment of information security risks.
