New fund brings Beacon's philosophy of purpose-built risk signals to a fully liquid, five-asset alternatives structure
DAYTON, Ohio, Sept. 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Beacon Capital Management (Beacon), a risk-response investment manager serving portfolio managers and financial advisors nationwide, today announced the launch of the Beacon Tactical Alternatives Risk ETF (BTA), a fully liquid alternatives fund built around five historically low-correlation asset classes: gold, broad commodities, managed futures, the U.S. dollar, and digital assets.
The launch extends Beacon's offering of risk-responsive products designed to help investors manage risk across market environments. Different types of risk call for different types of signals, and no single, blanket approach can address every potential portfolio risk across all asset classes or environments.
"Alternatives can be a powerful way to offer differentiated sources of risk and return and diversification, but only if you're managing each risk exposure on its own terms," said Emily Damman, President of Beacon. "That's the thinking behind BTA. We built it with five distinct alternative sleeves, each with its own risk management overlay, so a downturn in one exposure doesn't force a defensive call across the whole portfolio. Independent risk control matters when volatility can come from multiple directions."
That philosophy underpins Beacon's full lineup, including its risk-managed model portfolios, its adaptive fixed-income strategy, and now its expanding suite of exchange-traded funds. BTA is the latest addition, following the July 1 conversion of the Beacon Unified Catalyst ETF (BSR) to mirror Beacon's risk-managed equity model, and the EA Astoria Beacon Dynamic Core US Fixed Income ETF (AGGA), managed in partnership with Astoria Investment Management.
A Different Kind of Alternatives Fund
BTA is designed to solve a problem many advisors face: finding alternative exposures that are unique to a client's existing equity and bond holdings, while being straightforward to implement and easy to explain.
The fund allocates across its five asset classes based on risk contribution rather than equal dollar weighting. Each sleeve is monitored independently by Beacon's proprietary Trading Gauge - if momentum deteriorates in any single position, that sleeve alone can shift toward a more defensive posture without disrupting the fund's other exposures. The result is a fund with five asset classes that have historically demonstrated low correlation to equities and each another, thereby creating diversification within the alternatives sleeve itself and not away from stocks and bonds.
BTA is available through a single, highly liquid ETF structure, without the K-1 tax filings, lockup periods, or accreditation requirements that have traditionally made alternative investments difficult for advisors to access.
"Many advisors look beyond traditional stocks and bonds when seeking additional sources of diversification," said John Osier, Head of Investments at Beacon. "We built BTA to help solve the diversification by giving advisors access to alternative return drivers that may behave differently from traditional equity and fixed-income exposures. For advisors looking to incorporate alternatives into client portfolios, BTA offers the specialized exposure and risk management to put them there, without needing to become an alternatives specialist."
Part of a Broader Strategy
BTA joins a growing lineup of Beacon strategies available in model and fund form, reflecting the firm's continued growth as both a model manager and a provider of fund-based solutions for advisors who build portfolios themselves.
Each strategy solves a different portfolio problem and the philosophy behind them is the same: identify the risk to be managed, then apply the right signal rather than forcing a single approach to do everything. BSR, Beacon's Unified Catalyst ETF, combines three proprietary signals, the Trading Gauge, the Economic Index, and individual-holdings monitoring, to give investors a more complete read on risk than any single signal could provide on its own. AGGA, Beacon's Outlook Enhanced Income fund, actively manages duration and credit risk, shortening duration when rate risk rises, then selectively leaning back into income-oriented risk as conditions improve, and shifting toward higher-quality holdings when credit conditions weaken.
