Beatrice & Asuncion Expands National Security Practice with Industry and Engineering Veterans
Lisa Bencivenga and T. Brent Jones add decades of experience in export compliance, licensing, and technical assessments.
WASHINGTON, Nov. 5, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Beatrice & Asuncion PLLC announced today that Lisa Bencivenga and T. Brent Jones have joined its team, adding industry and engineering depth to its work in export compliance, licensing, technical assessments, and remediation.
Bencivenga will serve as Director of Compliance and Licensing. Jones will serve as Director of Technology Assessment. Their addition builds on the firm's October 2026 launch and continues the expansion of its national security practice.
"Our clients face decisions that carry legal, commercial, and national security consequences," said M. Jeffrey Beatrice, a founding partner. "Lisa and Brent bring decades of experience with the products, technologies, and business operations behind those decisions. Their industry and engineering expertise adds another dimension to the legal and investigative judgment our clients count on."
Bencivenga brings more than 35 years of export and import licensing and trade compliance experience, including roles at Boeing and Orbital Sciences and her own consulting practice since 2004. She has advised more than 150 U.S. and foreign companies on regulatory and policy matters, developed licensing strategies and compliance programs, and performed jurisdiction and classification analyses.
Bencivenga has conducted compliance audits for clients and at the direction of the U.S. Department of State. The Department has also approved her to conduct audits and monitoring for companies operating under consent agreements. She previously served on the State Department's Defense Trade Advisory Group. At the firm, her work will encompass compliance programs, licensing, audits, training, due diligence, and remediation.
"Export compliance is tested every day in the decisions companies make about their products, technology, and customers," said Bencivenga. "Brent and I know the engineering questions, licensing demands, and business pressures behind those decisions. At Beatrice & Asuncion, we work alongside lawyers and investigators who have handled these issues in senior government roles. That is a powerful combination for clients."
An electrical engineer by training, Jones brings 25 years of export and import licensing and trade compliance experience, including roles at General Dynamics and Esterline Technologies. He has managed licensing teams, served as an Empowered Official, and led jurisdiction and classification reviews with engineering departments. He previously served on the Bureau of Industry and Security's Information Systems Technical Advisory Committee.
Jones will apply his engineering background to technical assessments across the firm's regulatory, compliance, and investigations work.
"An export control matter can turn on precisely what a product or technology does and which rules apply to it," said Anthony Asuncion, a founding partner. "Lisa and Brent add decades of industry and engineering experience to the analysis that informs our legal advice. In this field, the legal answer is only as strong as the technical one."
Bencivenga and Jones join a team that also includes Director of Investigations Philip R. Kuhn and Of Counsel Debra S.P. Cheng. The team brings together experience in senior Justice and Commerce roles, federal investigations, and industry trade compliance.
