Bedoyecta® and Latinos in College Have a Scholarship Contest and Offer Free University Resources to Latino Families with the Program Echale Ganas a Tu Futuro
A percentage of the sales of Bedoyecta® products support workshops and free university resources for Hispanic families
NEW YORK, July 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Summer is the ideal time to prepare not only for the classes of the coming school year, but also to research and evaluate options to finance them. Continuing with its mission to help Latino students and their families find information, resources and connections to go to college; Bedoyecta®, the multivitamin brand marketed by Valeant Consumer Products, a division of Valeant Pharmaceuticals North America LLC, has partnered with the organization Latinos in College (LIC) for the second consecutive year to support Echale Ganas a Tu Futuro. This program, which provides workshops for students and parents, as well as online educational materials, is specifically designed for the Hispanic community with the aim of encouraging young Latinos to enroll and graduate from college. Bedoyecta® continues to work towards their goal of donating close to $50,000 over a two year period, with a percentage of this donation coming from sales of Bedoyecta®.

Due to the fact that the Latino population is the fastest growing minority in the United States and that 34 percent of it is less than 18 years old,1 it is more important than ever that young Latinos receive support to prepare for their higher education. Although studies show that the percentage of Latinos who abandon their studies has declined, it remains unacceptably high.2
"We still have a lot of work to do," says Mariela Dabbah, CEO of LIC and author of Latinos in College: Your Guide to Success. "That's why I founded Latinos in College in 2009 to ensure that young people have an opportunity to attend college and finish their college studies, regardless of their economic situation or whether or not their parents attended college. In addition to supporting the community through its free workshops, or Family Nights, Bedoyecta® and LIC will be hosting a contest for two $1,500 scholarships each. The contest is open to university students and students who are in their senior year of high school who have already been accepted by a college or university. To participate in the contest, the students will need to submit an essay of 500 words or less, in response to the following question: What is your drive to seek higher education?
