Beiqi Foton Motors Launches Line of Energy Super Trucks at 66th IAA Commercial Vehicles, Hanover 2016
HANOVER, Germany, Sept. 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Chinese truck and utility vehicle manufacturer Beiqi Foton Motors, in collaboration with American vehicle manufacturer Cummins Inc. and German manufacturers ZF Friedrichshafen AG and Continental AG as well as other members of the Super Truck Global Innovation Alliance, launched three super truck models - the Auman EST (Energy Super Truck) heavy super truck and the Aumark S super medium and super light trucks, during the 66th IAA Commercial Vehicles 2016, the leading international trade fair for mobility, transportation and logistics, taking place in Hanover, Germany.
Among these three models, the target markets for the Foton super truck Auman EST are chiefly global logistics clients engaged in long distance and high value-added freight businesses that require punctuality and efficiency, while the two Aumark S models are directed towards logistics markets in urban environments worldwide.
According to the presentation given by Foton Motors acting deputy general manager Gong Yueqiong, the common characteristic shared by these three models is that they are the result of the collaboration that brought together Foton Motor Group, Daimler AG and Cummins who, in turn, leveraged the global pool of knowledge represented by the Foton Super Truck Global Innovation Alliance, an organization that takes pride in its green, environment-friendly, efficient, energy saving, safe and intelligent approach to all things automotive.
The goals call for a 30% reduction in vehicle fuel consumption (or, going all the way by adopting a fully electric model), a 30% reduction in carbon emissions (or, if the electric model is chosen, elimination), while seeking to increase freight efficiency by 70%.
The global launch of Foton super trucks is not only a critically strategic move for Foton Motors to take more of a leadership role in the domestic market, but also to develop the international market for high-end trucks and to take the high ground when it comes to competition. The launch is also an important milestone for Foton Motor Super Truck Global Innovation Alliance.
