Benjamin Lerner (Musician, Recovering Fentanyl Addict, and Viral Content Creator) Releases New EP, "RUN TOWARDS THE TRUTH," Expanding His National Addiction Recovery Advocacy Campaign

EAST ARLINGTON, Vt., Feb. 21, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Old Mill Road Recording is thrilled to announce the release of RUN TOWARDS THE TRUTH, a new EP from Benjamin Lerner, a Vermont-based Recording Artist, Recovery Advocate, Writer, Radio Host, and Social Media Influencer.

RUN TOWARDS THE TRUTH is a bold, confessional project, the second installment in a three-part EP series. The first EP, KEEP MOVING FORWARD, debuted in November 2024, and the third EP, DON'T QUIT BEFORE THE MIRACLE HAPPENS, is slated for release later this year.

As a recovering IV fentanyl, heroin, and crack cocaine addict, now sober since June 2016, Lerner fearlessly channels the lessons he has learned over the course of his sobriety into his music. He combines elements of Hip-Hop, Spoken Word, Classical Music, Jazz, and Folk Music to create a unique and powerful sound.

Each EP's title is inspired by the three distinct phrases of Lerner's signature recovery mantra:

"Keep moving forward. Run towards the truth.
Don't quit before the miracle happens."

This mantra served as the closing message of Lerner's CLEAN Column, a serialized, autobiographical recovery column that ran in the Vermont News Guide from January 2020 through January 2025. It encapsulates the underlying spirit of Lerner's journey through recovery, reinforcing the message of resilience at the heart of his advocacy efforts with his musical mentor and producer, Dr. Joshua Sherman.

Since launching the CLEAN Campaign, Lerner and Sherman have built their shared artistic endeavor into a far-reaching movement. The campaign began in earnest with Lerner's debut album, CLEAN, in February 2020. Over the last five years, Lerner and Sherman's work has expanded into a multi-platform initiative, with live performances and speaking engagements at such prestigious venues as The Aspen Institute and Carnegie Hall. Working together, Lerner and Sherman launched the recovery rap radio show, CLEAN Jams, on 102.7 WEQX, and built a thriving addiction recovery platform on social media with over 300,000 followers and 150 million total video views.

Lerner's first EP in the three-part series, KEEP MOVING FORWARD, struck a powerful chord with listeners. Its songs have accumulated over two million video views through social media reels and garnered tens of thousands of streams across platforms since its release. 

With RUN TOWARDS THE TRUTH, Lerner and Sherman continue to push the boundaries of Lerner's sound.

The EP, released on February 21^st, one day after the five-year anniversary of Lerner's debut album, CLEAN, features Lerner's signature, hard-hitting recovery raps, paired with powerful Hip-Hop production and melodic hooks on the first three tracks: "Get Out While You Still Can," "Impostor Syndrome," and "Switched Up." The closing track, "Distant," offers a stripped-down, introspective vocal performance over live piano, accompanied by a mesmerizing music video. All of the songs on RUN TOWARDS THE TRUTH were produced by Sherman and mixed by GRAMMY® Award-winning audio engineer, Benjamin Arrindell at the NAMM TEC® Award-winning studio, Old Mill Road Recording.

One of the EP's most anticipated collaborations is "Impostor Syndrome," which features the influential, Pittsburgh-based, sober hip-hop artist, Colicchie. Known for his viral hit, "Drug Addiction," which ignited the recovery rap movement in 2017, Colicchie has been a powerful influence on Lerner's advocacy and artistry. Both Colicchie and Lerner also share a connection to the late, great Hip-Hop icon, Mac Miller, having worked with the acclaimed rapper in the early 2010s on separate songs.
