Berlin Packaging Executive Cathy Lada Tapped to Serve on Committee with the Council on Safe Transportation of Hazardous Articles
As co-chair of the COSTHA membership committee, Lada will help drive membership for the organization, which promotes safety and compliance in the transportation of hazardous materials and dangerous goods.
CHICAGO, Aug. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Berlin Packaging, a leading full-service supplier of plastic, glass and metal containers and closures, today announced that Cathy Lada, Marketing & Business Development Specialist of Berlin's Dangerous Goods Division, has been appointed co-chair of the membership committee of The Council on Safe Transportation of Hazardous Articles, Inc. (COSTHA). For more than 35 years, the not-for-profit industry association has been devoted to promoting regulatory compliance and safety in the international and domestic transportation of hazardous materials.
Specifically, COSTHA helps companies comply with regulations for the transportation of hazardous materials and encourages the professional development and high standards of individuals working in the hazmat industry. Membership consists of a large cross section from all aspects of the hazardous materials transportation industry including chemical, automobile, pharmaceutical, cosmetics and fragrance manufacturers as well as freight forwarders, shippers and carriers by all modes. More than 160 leading companies are COSTHA members, including Clorox, Toyota, Procter and Gamble, Honda and New Century Transportation.
Lada brings to COSTHA years of leadership experience in promotions, management and service with non-profits, and has a strong track record of increasing member participation and perceived value in association programs and products. Her close collaboration with the various experts and facets of Berlin's Dangerous Goods Division – which offers safe, economical solutions for meeting regulatory compliance when shipping hazardous or temperature-sensitive materials – also will be a tremendous asset to her new role as co-chair of the COSTHA membership committee. Lada will co-chair the membership committee along with Jerry McCraw, Revlon, and Mary Beth Schommer, VaporLok Products.
"Industry associations achieve strength and impact through their members, and COSTHA has an outstanding roster of companies on which it has built a tremendous reputation. Companies see real value in being involved, and their membership illustrates their commitment to the safe transportation of hazardous materials," Lada says. "I look forward to building on COSTHA's membership momentum by sharing COSTHA's message with more companies and helping to expand the association's strength in numbers."
"Berlin's Dangerous Goods Division is a member of COSTHA, and we believe in the organization and its value to us, other companies, and our industry as a whole," says Bill Barger, District Manager, Dangerous Goods Division. "We are also thrilled one of our own is taking on a greater role in COSTHA. Cathy has a wealth of experience with non-profits and associations and with membership development and team-building. And she understands the trends, issues and regulatory compliance challenges companies face every day."
