MILFORD, Conn., Oct. 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Bernoulli, a recognized leader in real-time connected healthcare, announced that it will become a sponsoring partner of the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) Foundation's Coalition for Alarm Management Safety and Coalition to Promote Continuous Monitoring for Patients on Opioids.
"Alarm management and continuous monitoring for patients on opioids are two of the top patient safety priorities in healthcare today," said Janet Dillione, CEO of Bernoulli. "The Bernoulli Clinical Insight Platform™ supports hospitals and health systems in their efforts to achieve full compliance with the Joint Commission's National Patient Safety Goal (NPSG) on clinical alarm safety and also enables continuous, real-time surveillance of patients connected to virtually any medical device, which makes our partnership in both of these AAMI Foundation coalitions a perfect match."
The Coalition for Alarm Management Safety promotes patient safety through alarm management on a national scale. Members of the coalition will meet regularly to explore the current and future state of alarm management and to help improve hospital alarm management. The National Coalition to Promote Continuous Monitoring of Patients on Opioids will produce data-driven results and share strategies to overcome barriers to continuous monitoring. Bernoulli is participating in the two-year initiative as both a sponsor for the Alarm Management and Opioids coalitions.
"We are very pleased that Bernoulli has joined the National Coalition for Alarm Management Safety and the Coalition to Promote Continuous Monitoring for Patients on Opioids," Marilyn Neder Flack, MA, Executive Director of the AAMI Foundation said. "Bernoulli's expertise in alarm management and patient surveillance will be invaluable as we continue to educate healthcare providers about addressing alarm hazards and patient monitoring challenges."
Added Ms. Dillione: "The AAMI Foundation coalitions allow us to engage with thought leaders on the frontlines as well as other industry partners to address these challenges. We look forward to playing an active role in helping eliminating the risks associated with alarm fatigue and opioid induced respiratory arrests."
