Bestnet A/S Donates Netprotect® LLINs in Support of the JCI/Nothing But Nets Campaign

KOLDING, Denmark, Jan. 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Bestnet A/S has announced that the company is once again donating Netprotect® Long Lasting Insecticide Incorporated Mosquito Nets (LLINs) to the Junior Chamber International - JCI/Nothing But Nets campaign in support of their participation in the Budapest to Bamako Great African Run, the world's largest charity road rally.

Hundreds of drivers and adventurers from over 30 countries set out on January 13, 2012 from Budapest, Hungary and will end in Bamako, Mali. From its humble roots, the Budapest-Bamako Great African Run has grown into a major international sporting and cultural event. While the challenge is to complete the 8,000-kilometer race in 15 days, the main objective is to deliver donations of money and supplies to communities in Mali.

The guiding principle of the Budapest-Bamako is: Anyone, By Anything, In Any Way. There are no restrictions on the vehicles or individuals that can enter. There are no road restrictions either. Participants have to complete daily stages between Budapest and Bamako. There are no set routes, and racers can plan and optimize their own route. It is not a timed event. Instead, points are awarded for completing daily stages in certain time periods. In addition there are geocaching challenges along the way for additional points. If a team doesn't complete a stage they are still in the race. Cars do not have to arrive at the finish line, just the participants. Teams can participate in racing or touring categories.

As a co-sponsor of the JCI/Hungary participants, Bestnet has donated another 1000 Netprotect LLINs this year, bringing its total contribution during the past two years to more than 3,600 bednets. In addition, 1250 nets were purchased by co-sponsor Kreston International. The use of Netprotect® LLINs has contributed to the reduction in the number of malaria deaths in Africa. Members of JCI Hungary will compete in the rally, raising awareness about the need for action to help Africans overcome the deadly disease.

The Budapest-Bamako Great African Run will conclude on January 29th in Bamako, Mali. At the conclusion of the race, JCI Hungary will distribute the donated Netprotect® LLINs.
