 Latest release extends Betterment's AI roadmap to its custody platform for RIAs

Helps advisors set up transfers in as little as 30 seconds

NEW YORK, Sept. 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Betterment, a trusted wealth and savings platform, is expanding its use of AI to make wealth-building more accessible and easier to navigate. Across its products, Betterment is integrating AI to deliver personalization at scale—helping individual investors reach their goals while giving advisors intuitive, time-saving tools that marry customization with scale efficiency. Today, the company announced the launch of an AI-powered document reader within Betterment Advisor Solutions' client onboarding experience.

The document reader builds on Betterment Advisor Solutions' seamless digital onboarding experience, which helps advisors set up transfers in as little as 30 seconds. Instead of manually re-keying data from a client's brokerage statement, advisors can now upload the statement directly and let AI populate the transfer request. From there, advisors can review the details and set the destination portfolio strategy, all within the same onboarding flow. The result is an automated and faster process that helps advisors create a strong first impression with new clients.

The new capability joins Betterment's growing portfolio of AI features, including an AI-enabled Account Recommender and Custom Portfolios AI Insights for retail customers, and an AI Plan Benchmarker for retirement plan sponsors. Additional AI applications are planned across Betterment's retail business, Betterment Advisor Solutions, and Betterment at Work before the end of 2026.
