BEZ Initiates Plan to Extend BEZVision Capabilities for Cloud Based Environments
BOSTON, Oct. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- BEZ Systems, the leading provider of predictive analytics for IT, today announced the immediate commencement of a new program to extend BEZVision(TM) functional capabilities for cloud based computing environments. BEZVision automatically uses existing performance metrics to assess today's application and database performance and predict future application or workload service breaches, months before they would likely occur. This allows the proper remedial steps to be taken and shortfalls in service delivery to be minimized or completely avoided. BEZ staff and management have been working in the background on a cloud based support initiative for the last 24 months and will see the first of several product releases before the end of 2010.
According to Dan Haley, BEZ president and CEO, "For a while now, we've been seeing our customers and others moving more of their infrastructure to cloud based platforms, but the moving part is easy. Although they may no longer need to do periodic capacity planning, they still need to manage day-to-day capacity to ensure they're really getting the service they're paying for and required service levels are being met. That's why we've decided to include advanced support for cloud based platforms in upcoming releases of BEZVision."
BEZVision includes powerful features for capacity management in cloud based environments. Its sharp focus on workload level detail and end user response time provides a key indicator for near term or immediate capacity issues. If a server becomes constrained to a point that end user response time is negatively affected, BEZVision includes an advanced prediction engine to analyze the complex non-linear relationships that exist in today's cloud based computing environments. BEZVision predictive analytics provide a roadmap for eliminating capacity constraints before they become major impediments to business users. BEZVision is an invaluable solution to help align physical, virtual and cloud based infrastructure components with the precise needs of the business while eliminating the need for over-provisioning to achieve acceptable performance.
Several use cases will be addressed for each of several cloud based platforms in wide use today. The first of these platforms to receive support will be VMWare, one of the global leaders in virtualization and cloud based solutions to help customers reduce complexity and save money.
BEZVision users in VMWare environments will be able to address and analyze important use cases and quantify the results to help make more confident and accurate infrastructure decisions. The initial VMWare use cases include:
- Migrating workloads from a physical server to a virtual environment
- Migrating workloads from a virtual environment to a physical server
- Moving/importing VM workloads from one server to another
- Adding or removing VM workloads to or from a server
- Configuration changes to VM workloads (e.g. CPU limits, change in priority)
Multiple changes can be evaluated in a single prediction run and the time horizon for each prediction can be established by the user.
BEZVision users realize a strong return on investment in a variety of ways, which include: efficiently managing cloud based capacity issues and analyzing cloud based workloads, reducing hardware costs by eliminating unnecessary upgrades, reducing system downtime by avoiding surprise outages, and reducing the time and number of people required for new application implementations.
