BG Capital Group Acquires 50 Percent of Equestrian Magazine Group

PLANTATION, Fla., May 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- BG Capital Group has acquired 50-percent of one of the equestrian industry's emerging magazine companies, announced Board Chairman Bobby Genovese.

Central Florida-based Horse and Pet, Inc, publishes Horse N Pet Journal and Horse N Pet Kids Journal, which is distributed throughout the nation's top equestrian markets: California, Florida, Missouri and Kentucky, among several other key emerging markets.

The partnership signals BG Capital Group's increased investment in the equestrian sector, which began in 2011 when Genovese developed and launched BG Signature Properties, a portfolio of 12 exclusive luxury retreats in the US, Canada, Europe, South America and Bahamas, including its flagship BG Equestrian Resort in Ocala, Florida — a 100-acre, year-round luxury equestrian retreat featuring world-class stables and lodging for traveling horse enthusiasts.

The acquisition follows BG Capital Group's 2013 purchase of a 50-percent stake in WhatsUp Media — a central Florida based magazine and production company that hosts and promotes concerts and special events in Ocala and Marion County, FL.

Through the support of What's Up Media Group, Horse N Pet, Inc will introduce a video component to its media distribution network through a weekly equine-based news show. "The partnership with Horse N Pet, Inc provides an opportunity to distribute regular video content to a growing print magazine. We are excited to bring central Florida's Equine news to the rest of the country," says Genovese.

In 2013, Genovese created Silver Springs Management to manage Silver Springs State Park in a three-year deal with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to assume concessionaire management of the park, which reopened last October.
