BICSI Security Industry Liaison Jerry Bowman Appointed to FBI's Infragard National Member Alliance Board of Directors

TAMPA, Fla., March 31, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- BICSI, the association advancing the information and communications technology (ICT) community, is pleased to announce the appointment of BICSI Immediate Past President and Security Industry Liaison, Jerry L. Bowman, RCDD, RTPM, NTS, CISSP, CPP, CDCDP, to a three-year term on the FBI's InfraGard National Member Alliance (INMA) Board of Directors.

The convergence of security systems like access control and surveillance onto the network places much of the responsibility for future security designs into the hands of ICT professionals. Bowman's recent appointment enhances and affirms BICSI's commitment to provide education, training and credentialing for ICT professionals working in the electronic safety and security (ESS) field. This, in turn, supports INMA's mission to provide its members with education and information to protect critical infrastructures from both physical and cyber security threats.

One of the major goals outlined in the new BICSI Board Strategic Plan is outreach to associations and organizations serving industries focused on IP convergence and physical infrastructure. BICSI's collaboration with InfraGard and other security-related organizations further confirms this commitment to provide new and complementary educational opportunities to BICSI members and stakeholders alike.

Bowman served on the BICSI Board of Directors for eight years, including two years as BICSI President. Throughout his 17 years as a BICSI member and a long-time contributor to BICSI's educational offerings and various strategic initiatives, Bowman served as Chair of several BICSI committees and was instrumental in the creation and implementation of BICSI's NxtGEN Program. During his term as BICSI President, Bowman also oversaw the signing of BICSI's Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with ASIS International. 

Some of Bowman's additional industry contributions include his work as the Chair of the BICSI Electronic Safety and Security Design Reference Manual (ESSDRM), 1st Edition, and Vice-Chair of the ESSDRM, 2^nd Edition. He was also a member of BICSI's Panel 500 (Residential Networks & Cabling); a contributing author of Addendum 6, TIA-569 (1999); a contributing author of Residential Network Cabling, 1st edition (2002); a member of BICSI's Technical Information & Methods Committee; a chapter coordinator and contributing author/editor to the BICSI Telecommunications Distribution Design Manual (TDMM), 11th edition; an editor of ANSI/BICSI 002-2011, Data Center Design and Implementation Best Practices; and a contributing author of the Information Security Handbook, 5th edition (2005, Auerbach Publishing).
