SAN DIEGO, Calif., June 29, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- West Health, a family of nonprofit organizations dedicated to enabling seniors to successfully age, announced today Bill Earley has been named its chief administration officer and general counsel, effective August 1, 2017.
Earley, a San Diego native, joins West Health after serving for three years as regional chief executive officer of the American Red Cross of San Diego/Imperial Counties, the leading nonprofit humanitarian emergency assistance, disaster relief and preparedness education organization in the region. During his time at the Red Cross, Earley led more than 100 employees and 2,500 volunteers to help create a safer, more prepared and resilient San Diego community in the event of disaster or emergency.
In his new role, Earley will be responsible for all administrative and operational aspects of West Health's applied medical research and policy work in support of successful aging. This includes overseeing the organizations' financial, human resources, information technology and other administrative functions. As general counsel, he will lead West Health's legal, compliance and governance efforts. Given his strong community relationships, Earley will also play a critical role in West Health's local and state advocacy endeavors.
"Bill is a passionate business and community leader who will help West Health deliver its mission to enable successful aging for our nation's seniors," said Shelley Lyford, West Health's president and CEO. "I am excited to have him join our team and help us continue to build operational excellence in everything we do."
Prior to the Red Cross, Earley was a partner and attorney for more than 24 years at what is now the international law firm, Dentons (formerly McKenna Long & Aldridge and Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps). He also had his own law and management consulting firm, The Earley Group, Inc. He holds a Juris Doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center and is a graduate of San Diego State University.
Throughout his life and career, Earley has been dedicated to helping others. He received the U.S. Congressional Gold Medal Award in 1985 for exemplary community service and has worked with more than a dozen regional nonprofits, boards and public service entities, including the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and LEAD San Diego.
"I'm honored to join the talented West Health team and help support its successful aging mission," said Earley. "It's a very critical time for seniors in our country. West Health's initiatives are truly making a difference, helping to rethink aging in America and increasing access to much-needed health and supportive services which enable vulnerable older adults to remain independent in their homes and communities."
