BiologicTx Paired Donation Aids In Successful Kidney Transplants

TOTOWA, N.J., July 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- BiologicTx^® today announced their participation in Florida's first 3-way Kidney Paired Donation transplant exchange utilizing BiologicTx's proprietary matching software, Matchgrid™. The landmark surgical procedures happened on July 9 at the Miami Transplant Institute, located at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Fla.

Kidney Paired Donation (KPD) is an option for donor/recipient pairs who are not compatible for kidney transplant with one another due to incompatible blood types or other physical differences.  KPD programs that apply software, like BiologicTx's Matchgrid, are able to identify more compatible matches with other pairs in the software database – pairs that are also incompatible with one another – ultimately increasing the chances of a successful transplant for all pairs involved.
