BiTMICRO® Networks selects Permabit Data Reduction for their MAXio All Flash Storage N3P4

Oct 20, 2015, 08:35 ET from Permabit Technology Corporation

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Oct. 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Permabit Technology Corporation, the industry leader in data reduction technology, today announced that it is providing Albireo Virtual Data Optimizer (VDO) inline deduplication, compression, and thin provisioning for BiTMICRO Networks' recently announced N3P4 3U MAXio All Flash Storage Arrays.

BiTMICRO jumped into the all-flash array market in August with the announcement of two SSD appliances, the N1A6 1U that holds twenty 1TB SSDs for 20TB of raw flash capacity and the N3P4 3U rackmount, which includes eight BiTMICRO MAXio E-Series PCIe SSDs or their higher-capacity Z-Series PCIe SSDs.

"The expansion of our storage portfolio, with the addition of the MAXio All Flash Storage N3P4, allows us to provide customers with all-flash storage solutions that can run more applications on a foundation of PCIe SSDs such as databases, high-performance computing, VDI, and media production," said Jeffrey Bunting, President of BiTMICRO. "Customers depend on BiTMICRO to give them measureable operational payback. We made a careful comparison of data reduction software offerings and determined that Permabit's VDO was a great fit for enhancing the capabilities of our storage products. By partnering with Permabit, we are able to provide rugged, reliable and cost-effective flash solutions without sacrificing performance."

Albireo VDO is designed to embed directly into vendor-specific data management software, allowing it to scale with the capabilities of underlying hardware and software of the BiTMICRO all-flash arrays. It dramatically improves native write performance by eliminating duplicate data, and it utilizes fewer hardware resources than any other data reduction solution available today. Albireo's patented indexing technology is the most resource-efficient solution in the industry, ensuring that performance and scalability do not come at the expense of massive amounts of RAM consumption.

"This is an exciting time to partner with BiTMICRO as it enters the all-flash array market – one we are heavily entrenched in," said Tom Cook, CEO of Permabit. "By embedding Albireo VDO into the MAXio All Flash Storage N3P4, BiTMICRO was able to get to market quickly with must-have, industry-leading data reduction capabilities that augment their traditional mission-critical reliability, while offering one of the most competitive cost per usable TB in the industry."
