BLACK ENTERPRISE Holds Symposium on "Educating Our Daughters - Preparing Our Next Women of Power," focused on STEM Education

BOCA RATON, Fla., Feb. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Black Enterprise, with support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, is pleased to present "Educating Our Daughters—Preparing Our Next Women of Power," on Thursday, February 27, at the Boca Raton Resort & Club in Boca Raton, Fla. The forum will take place as part of the agenda of the Black Enterprise Women of Power Summit. The symposium is part of the Today's Business Crisis: Educating Tomorrow's Workforce series created by Black Enterprise and supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The series aims to cultivate a conversation between top leaders in business, philanthropy and education about the critical challenges facing the American K-12 and postsecondary educational system. The symposium series has been held in Memphis, Tenn.; Charlotte, N.C.; Orlando, Fla.; Columbus, Ohio; Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles.

The Black Enterprise "Educating Our Daughters—Preparing Our Next Women of Power" symposium will focus on strategies to increase the number of black women in industries related to STEM — science, technology, engineering and math, and ways to engage students and prepare them for the 21^st century workforce. Symposium speakers will also focus on how corporate and business leaders, policy makers and civic organizations can act as change agents, mentors and influencers in order to advance STEM education for girls of color.
