Blackboard Awards Five Grants to Support Global Learning Programs
Blackboard Charitable Giving Program Recognizes Worthy Organizations that are Helping to Inspire the World to Learn
WASHINGTON, Dec. 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Blackboard Inc. today announced the five organizations that received grants as a part of the company's annual Charitable Giving Program. Local representatives from three of the organizations were welcomed today to the company's new corporate headquarters in Washington, D.C.
Today's event marks the second year that Blackboard has presented grants as part of the program, and is the latest effort to deliver on its mission to reimagine education, and to strive to inspire the world to learn.

This year's grant recipients are:
Turning the Page helps link public schools, families and communities, ensuring that students receive valuable educational resources and a high-quality public education. The grant funds will be utilized to increase technology access and education for families in DC and Chicago.
The Black Star Project educates, organizes, and mobilizes parents, students, volunteers and community partners to facilitate a wide variety of programs, high-visibility campaigns, and other special initiatives throughout the year. The grant will support a new round of the organization's Youth Tech 2.0 program, where students develop websites for local businesses, as well as fund its academic enrichment programs.
Digital Harbor Foundation provides youth in Baltimore, Maryland with year-round technology programs including introductory and advanced after-school courses, summer camps, and intensive hack-a-thon competitions. The grant will enable the organization to increase tech education opportunities for youth, educators, and organizations across the country.
Lark's Song is committed to empowering individuals and organizations to create positive transformative change in their lives and in the world through education, life purpose discovery, and coaching and leadership development. The grant will help support the organization's Global Education Initiative in Zambia, Africa, providing training for educational coaches, and establish Internet access.
New Community for Children collaborates with parents and families, local schools and community partners to holistically prepare youth to become productive adults who in turn give their time and talents back to their communities. The grant will help fund the organization's STEM curriculum.
