Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona Announces Support for Transplant Team Arizona
In collaboration with New Life Society, transplant participants will travel to Salt Lake City to compete in U.S. Transplant Games
PHOENIX, Feb. 21, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona (BCBSAZ) has announced its support for New Life Society in its endeavor to send 25 transplant recipients and donors to the 2018 Transplant Games of America.
Thanks, in part, to a donation from BCBSAZ, Transplant Team Arizona will compete in the summer games in Salt Lake City. Competitors will play in a wide variety of games, including track and field, swimming, bowling, pickle ball, golf, darts, and trivia. Hosted by Donate Life, the Transplant Games of America aims to promote the need for organ, eye, and tissue donation.
New Life Society has been serving the transplant community for more than 29 years and is proud to sponsor Transplant Team Arizona for the first time. The Team has been attending the Transplant Games of America since 2002.
"Through the generous funding from BCBSAZ and the ongoing commitment of the transplant community, this year's competitors are primed to achieve their mission in demonstrating the effectiveness of life-saving transplants," said Greg Welsh, New Life Society board president and Transplant Team Arizona member.
New Life Society provides services and support to transplant recipients and their families. Education, meetings, assistance funds, and advocacy are a few of the resources the society provides free of charge.
